The arrival of a sibling is a happy phase for a child. Just as parents expect their second born, the child also seeks company. With many preparations done for the arrival of the second born the older sibling displays a lot of maturity. They love to feel the movement of the child in the womb and also engage in mental chores to be done for the arrival of the new born. In all, the excitement is high and with it there is lot of hope.

But the arrival of the sibling also initiates pangs of jealously or a mixed feeling of self conscious behavior. The child here feels neglected with so many praises showered on the new born. Material things are very important for a child and hence the child expects that relatives too bring him a toy or get a new dress. These small things matter to the child a lot. As parents we cannot pre-guide the child into all emotional details. But several matters can be pre-conditioned.

Show your child pictures of a new born and tell them that you require her or his help. Empowering them makes them responsible. Once a while they may show disinterest or give an impression of being stubborn and during the days the parent definitely has to understand the mental framework of the child. For a child affection or display of love is very essential. Make time for your first born by making some free time any time of the day. Do supervise his math lessons or help him with the stickers on the wardrobe.

As they are little, their needs are also similar. Children bask in the love of the new born. As the new born slowly grows, avoid any kind of conflict by comparison. Comments by relatives can also be reciprocated with lot of negative feeling by the older child. Subdue their fears and extend a lot of love towards them. A constant reassurance is all is required to build up their maturity.

Take time off by switching chores with your spouse or arrange for a helper during weekends and make time for your child by going for the stroll or doing some gardening. This is a passing phase.

There are plenty of beautiful and adorable accessories for your baby’s bedroom. You can fill your baby’s bedroom with creativity, imaginations, and life. Just imagine some of the funniest and joyful things and blend them with emotions to make your baby’s room most beautiful place to dwell.

If you have a baby boy then you can colour the room with blues and whites and decorate the walls with some fascinating concepts like jungle paintings, mountain view, or cartoons. You can even choose some of the funniest mixture of wall paints to paint the room like a mixture of red, orange, and yellow, or a mixture of red, blue, and purple. If you have a baby girl then the best colour for the room is pink. You can colour the walls paint and then decorate it with dolls and Barbie. You can even select the Barbie theme and make a similar painting on the wall.

Depending on the space you can position a beautiful small bed for your baby and good space around so that your baby can have a good play time in the cozy room especially designed to soothe your baby’s senses.

As your baby grows you can change the theme and concept of the room as well. As they grow up discover the world of their needs and decorate their rooms accordingly. You can then place different toys, building blocks, and other similar games in their room. This will help them develop their mental skills.

Once your tiny tots start going to school, you can make the room look simpler yet warm and position a good-size desk, a comfortable chair, and a comfortable bed. You can lighten the wall paints and choose a concept or theme if you want. While selecting the theme you should keep in mind the hobbies and interests of your child. For a school going girl a rainbow themed room is the best option. Even the furniture items can have a blend of hues and colours.

Give your child the best place to live with the best accessories in their rooms.

We are often worried about our baby’s skin and other health related issues. The skin of a baby is soft and extremely sensitive. Therefore, every parent must be tremendously careful and cautious while applying anything on their child’s skin.

First of all, avoid using any random products on their skin. Always remember that your and your baby’s skin is completely different. That’s why you must use skin care products specially made for babies.

Baby oil is very important for the mosturisation of your child’s skin. It helps maintain the softness of the skin. Use a mild cleanser while giving them a bath, so that there’s absolutely no risk. Make sure to maintain the desired hygiene for your baby. Give them a bath regularly during the summers, daily, whereas maybe every alternate day in the winters. This is especially for new born babies.

During the winters, massage your baby’s body with baby oil to avoid dryness and add shine. Also remember to give your baby a clean bath after this. Apply baby powder on their body to keep them cool. Apply it smoothly with a soft puff or cotton instead of sprinkling it and tapping it.

Make sure to change their diapers often. Apply powder or a protective diaper cream to keep your baby away from rashes. Babies under 6 months of age should spend little time in the sun. But avoid the mid-day sun and try to take advantage of the early morning hours. Ask your doctor for a sun screen recommendation to avoid tan and sun burns.

Every child has sensitive skin and extreme measures should be taken by all parents to handle it with care. If proper responsibility is not taken, it can harm their skin and create further problems like rashes, boils, burns, pigments, etc.

Planning for a baby involves a lot of sub plans. These include looking for a support system, finance and arranging yourself to additional chores. The confirmation of early pregnancy is validated by the doctor who will immediately prescribe a few vitamins and folic acid which is a normal procedure. Folic acid and calcium-iron are the important supplements required in measured quantity and are also suggested as you plan for a pregnancy.

There are several books on pregnancy but each case is unique and it is always better to adhere to the do’s and don’ts mentioned by the doctor from time to time. A good diet, exercise like walking or pre natal exercises are the best way to keep you physically fit. In case you are working, then maintain a schedule for eating and also relieving stress. Normal workload is desirable during pregnancy except in certain cases like low placenta there is a need to observe precautions.

The early trimester is usually tough for some ladies where nausea or morning sickness seems to be a normal problem. It is perfectly fine to use grandma’s recipes and avoid all kinds of medicines to curb the effects. This usually vanishes as you enter the second trimester. The feeling of having a baby is absolutely thrilling and movement felt inside the womb stirs up all kind of motherly emotions.

Make time to divide your chores and also sit by to relax when you feel uneasy. Strenuous and physically exhausting activity is really not desirable. For first time mothers, it is usual to go through certain doubts which the doctor will be able to guide you. There are a few inoculations suggested by the doctor during the pregnancy months. A few tests are also required to gauge your iron levels and other nutrients.

The sonography monitors the growth of the baby and indicates the timely development. The nurses are also proactive enough to explain the tiny details visualized in the screen. For second time mothers, a bit of extra care is required as they need to also prepare the older sibling in terms of accepting the new child in the family.

It is said that exercising is the best way to remain fit. But do babies have to exercise as well? Yes, they do. Even though you may think that your infant needs no exercise but he/she surely does. Exercising benefits all. Physical activity helps your baby build the muscles that are important for crawling and in the later stages, vital for walking. Also, exercise will help them sleep better since they will be tired and exhausted just like adults.

A new born baby cannot do anything by himself. But he is definitely learning all the time. For example he is learning to control his neck muscles, his head muscles and his ends. Till he turns three months old there are a couple of exercises you can help him do.
First of all, try the knee bend exercise. Take your infant’s feet and tenderly push his knees to his stomach. Then unbend his knees and push them back to his stomach again. Continue doing this. After repeating this a few times, you may observe that your baby begins to push back at you. This is all right; however don’t force his legs to bend.

The next exercise would help your baby lift his head. Lay your child straight, adjacent to your shoulder. In this pose, your baby can try raising his head, even if only for a second or two. You should give him good support along his back so he cant fall doesn’t fall down backwards.

The next exercise can help babies of all ages. Place your child, facing downwards on a comparatively firm surface. You can use foam floor mats for this exercise. Maybe during the first few months your baby won’t do react to this position, but as he grows a little older, he will try to turn his head from one side to other. He will also try lifting it up. In due course, he will push himself up on his forearms to look around.

Parenting is a pleasant experience for new parents. This is a phase in life which is like a blessing in disguise. Parenting is also an instinct and there is no need to actually tell a parent how to hold the child or explain matters on hygiene. New born baby care for first time mums is an overwhelming experience. All mums know by instinct that their child is hungry and spend giving quality time to nurse the baby.

With so much of modernization, it is convenient to invest in baby products. The baby cot is a safe environment which can be installed along with the beeper. The cot also has protective varnish on the sides that does not chip easily. Supervising the child at all times is necessary and for emergencies the beep is a dependable gadget to alert you.

Working moms can also seek the comfort of expressing milk through breast pumps and refrigerating the same. The care giver can feed the baby at regular intervals. The pumps and container need to be sterilized. Weaning the baby is a personal decision though pediatricians recommend 2 years of feeding to improve the immunity of the child. Talking to the new born is a way to establish a bond. The gibberish coos and gurgles are all signs of acknowledgement along with the crooked smile and squinted glances.

New borns take time to focus and their eyes are yet to gain strength. Their skin is extremely sensitive and finger massage is the best way to soothe them. Oil, soap, powder or moisturizer of sutiable brands is available in the market but consulting the doctor is vital before beginning on a routine. Baby care can also be exhausting and hence every parent must be practical in taking care of their own self.

Broken nights and sleepless days happen in the beginning and small children are also prone to nasal congestion and cough. With time and patience every parent learns to cope up with children’s illness as the true joy lies in seeing the child achieve his or her milestones is exciting.

Some children start walking when they are just ten months old while others do not start walking till they turn one and beyond. Parents immediately hit the anxiety and apprehension button and visit several doctors to ensure that their child is safe and sound. All parents are conscious about their child especially in the early years when the child learns to eat, walk, talk etc. Getting rid of the thousand fearful thoughts that parents have is a difficult thing to ask for.

Babies’ muscles take time to develop. Since muscle development starts from head to toe, your child will first develop the neck muscles. Later the child learns to control the torso and finally the leg muscle.

Development signs in walking can be seen as the child first learns to sit up, later crawls and even turns over. Usually, by the time, babies are eight months old, they start learning to stand on their feet and balance themselves. Babies try to pull themselves upright by holding on to furniture.

The normal age range when a child starts walking can range anywhere between 9 to 15 months. Usually a child starts walking at the age of one. But parents whose kids’ are one but are still crawling and balancing themselves do not worry your child will learn soon. In other cases, some babies do not go through the crawling stage at all, they directly learn to walk! This can happen when they are even 17 – 18 months old.

All that parents should know is that every child is unique and develops in his or her own unique way.

Caring for a new born can be a full time task. New mothers are overwhelmed with the new demands of the child and also are conscious of handling the child with maximum comfort. A new borns skin is often prone to peeling and is a natural occurrence. Massage is usually not recommended by doctors these days but a gentle finger movement is soothing to the child.

It is true that the new born takes time to focus things and their eye sight is not near perfect. The biggest problem parent’s face is sleep deprivation. The sleep times of a new born are erratic and broken nights are a very common issue. Mothers lactate almost immediately after the birth of the child and yet the process of feeding is a learning experience.

New borns are usually made to suckle but there is no general rule that the learnt it right the first time. Patience is the first virtue that a new mother learns. The cycle of nappy changing and feeding is almost a round the clock routine. It is fine to seek help or engage a helper so that the chores can be shared. Breast pumps are also recommended by many doctors which facilitate feeding the child while the mother can rest for some hours in the night.

Times do get tough when kids fall sick but this how nature improves their immunity. The first year is usually tough but kids outgrow all kinds of allergies or illnesses once they complete their initial years. Keep the immunization schedule handy and other things like birth certificates with multiple copies/attestations so that related paperwork is easy. New born parenting is a very emotional experience and look out for the sudden smiles, frowns and gurgles which will make you capture each moment by clicking lots of pictures.

Baby acne is one of the common problems that babies are born with. Almost thirty percent of the babies are born with rashes, baby acne being one of them. This usually occurs when the baby is around three weeks. Baby acne can last untill the baby is four to six months old. However, mothers need not panic as baby acne is perfectly normal and is caused by certain hormones which kindle the oil glands on then tender skin of babies which leads to acne.

Often mothers notice that the baby skin breaks out into pimples along with red rashes on the skin. As a parent one should take care that the babies’ clothes are not washed with harsh detergent that may cause the acne to aggravate. It is also essential that the baby is kept clean and dry. Moistness on the skin may add to the problem. Apply baby cream on the area surrounding the acne. Consult a doctor if the situation demands. Generally acne is more visible on the face while pimples appear on the chest and arms.

It is important that you use a mild soap to bathe the baby. Harsh soaps can also cause irritation. Do not scrub the baby too hard. It is also said that baby rash comes on its own and goes on its own and do not panic and become impatient. Sometimes, applying oils causes the acne to worsen so do not apply any medicated oil or cream without consulting the doctor.

Bonding with a baby is the way a parent connects with his/her infant. Research has proved that lack of bonding can make the baby suffer from despair and failure to flourish.

Bonding with your child is not something that can happen in minutes but something that gradually happens throughout the baby’s life. Most parents don’t realize it until the baby responds to something they said or did with a smile and they can’t believe how happy that makes them.

There are various ways to bond with your baby. The most important of them is by physical contact. It is very important for your baby to feel physically secure and to sense the warmth of his/her parents. Babies are also keen observers of your expressions. They react to facial expressions and eye contact and try to imitate them at a very early stage. Furthermore, scientists state that babies prefer listening to human voices than to music or any other mode of sound. So the next time you think you are incapable of singing to your baby, think again!

Bonding with adopted children is often a question most parents ask. However, adopted babies can bond just like biological babies with their parent with a little patience and adjustment. An adopted baby has to be given some time for transition and to synchronize with the novel atmosphere and should be handled with extra care and composition.

It’s not just the mother who has to bond with her toddler but also the father. Nowadays fathers spend more time with their infants than they earlier did. Bonding is an intricate but special experience which happens progressively. As time passes by, and your bonding with the baby becomes stronger, both you and your spouse will realize the beauty of the relationship you share with your child.
